Vegetable dishes are certainly good and healthy, but it is still worth emphasizing their taste with spices.
Thanks to this, even the most banal dish will become much more interesting and healthy.
Chef Yulia Arkhipova, an expert on culinary issues for the online publication BelNovosti, talks about how to choose the right seasonings for vegetables.
How to Choose Great Spices for Different Vegetables
Pumpkin dishes
Many still have pumpkin reserves that need to be consumed as soon as possible. This is a very useful product that improves heart function, takes care of the skin and helps to maintain youth.
Ginger powder, coriander, paprika, chili, jalapeno, and nutmeg go well with pumpkin. If you are making a sweet version of pumpkin, you should use cane sugar with cinnamon.
Potato
This vegetable can probably be safely considered one of the most popular: we cook it almost every day. The taste of potatoes is perfectly revealed with the help of paprika, marjoram, curry, turmeric, thyme, onion or garlic powder. Almost all available herbs are also suitable for potatoes.
Beet
Beetroot can be used not only as a component of borscht, vinaigrette or herring under a fur coat. Many cook this vegetable separately, as it is incredibly healthy.
The taste of beets needs to be properly emphasized. Most often, experienced cooks choose ginger powder, tarragon, horseradish and anise. If you want to achieve a more interesting "sound" of beets, you can add a small pinch of wormwood.
All types of pepper, cumin and horseradish are also used.
Carrot
You can make a lot of dishes based on carrots: it is a tasty, inexpensive and healthy vegetable. It can be cooked with coriander, nutmeg and ginger powder.
Various types of pepper and paprika are often used. Spicy herbs can be added to carrot dishes.
Zucchini, eggplant, squash
This category of vegetables goes well with hot spices - asafoetida, chili, jalapeno, ginger and garlic powder. You can bring out their flavor with basil.
Onion and garlic powder are also often used.
Cabbage
This vegetable is also often cooked, as it is healthy and tastes good. Bay leaf powder, cloves and marjoram go well with cabbage.
You can add any kind of pepper and coriander.
Tomatoes
If you cook tomatoes, you should use marjoram, basil, bay leaf. Don't forget about garlic, which goes best with tomatoes.
