There is very little time left until the beginning of Great Lent for Orthodox Christians.

This is a time of spiritual cleansing, not starvation. So tormenting yourself with dreams of a cutlet for seven weeks is also not a good idea.

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova , cook, fourth-category baker, told how to cook carrot-rice cutlets. Not meat, of course, but also delicious.

You will need:

  • carrots - 300 g;
  • onion - 1 pc.;
  • rice (round) - 100 g;
  • water - 250 ml;
  • garlic - 3 cloves;
  • breadcrumbs;
  • starch - 1 tbsp;
  • vegetable oil;
  • salt and pepper to taste.

How to cook

1. Put the rice to boil in salted water.

2. At this time, peel and chop the onion, fry in vegetable oil until soft.

3. Peel the carrots and grate them on a coarse grater, fry, cover the vegetables with a lid and simmer until the carrots become soft.

4. Then mix the vegetables and rice, press the garlic and add to the mass. Add starch or flour, spices.

5. Knead the "mince", form cutlets, roll in breadcrumbs and fry in vegetable oil on both sides. Enjoy!
