An omelette is a dish that many housewives love to cook, but it does not always turn out as fluffy and airy as we would like.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, suggested learning about the main mistakes that cooks make when preparing an omelet, as well as recommendations that will allow you to avoid them.
The first mistake is overheating the frying pan.
If you pour the omelette mixture into a frying pan that is too hot, the dish will most likely burn and an unappetizing crust will appear on the bottom.
To avoid this, heat the pan on medium heat and watch for any barely noticeable smoke to come from it - this is a sign of overheating. If the pan is overheated, remove it from the heat for 2-3 minutes to cool down, and only then pour in the omelette mixture.
The second mistake is undercooking the omelette.
While the omelette is in the pan, it rises well and remains fluffy. However, once it is placed on a plate, the omelette immediately sinks and turns into a thin, unattractive cake.
The reason is that it is not baked properly, so to keep the omelette fluffy, cook it in the oven or leave it for a few more minutes on low heat with the lid closed.
