You should never eat raw beans, as they contain toxic substances.
As Yulia Arkhipova, an expert at the online publication BelNovosti, explained, these substances disappear during cooking, but cooking takes a lot of time – about 4 hours.
To speed up the process, you can pre-soak the beans, which will take 6-10 hours.
If you don't have that much time, try another route.
The beans must be washed before cooking, then poured into a saucepan, filled with water in a ratio of 1:2 and put on the fire. Bring to a boil, then cook for 5-10 minutes and drain the water.
Then the beans need to be filled with cold water again and the procedure repeated. If you do this several times, the beans will cook without soaking in 1 hour.
But the difficulties with cooking beans don’t end there, because, in addition to everything else, they need to be salted.
A common mistake is to add salt at the beginning of cooking beans, as when cooking cereals.
But this can have the opposite effect - the beans will become tough and take longer to cook.
Therefore, beans should be salted at the end of cooking or even after it is finished, during further preparation.
