How to make a British potato casserole: a minimum of ingredients – the dish turns out tender and aromatic

A delicious and filling potato casserole is a simple way to diversify your menu.

Moreover, you only need a small number of ingredients to get an excellent dish that will decorate not only an everyday dinner table, but also be suitable for a festive menu.

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova shared a simple recipe.

What products are needed?

To prepare a casserole for 4-5 servings, you need to take:

  • potatoes - 500 g;
  • onions - 2 pcs.;
  • cheese - 150 g;
  • butter - 250 g.

In addition, it is advisable to take a few sprigs of greenery, a little salt and pepper, which will make the taste brighter.

How to Make British Potato Casserole

The root vegetables need to be washed, peeled and cut into circles. The onion needs to be chopped into thin halves, and the cheese only needs to be grated on a coarse grater.

Melt 60 g of butter in a heated frying pan. Fry the onion until soft and set aside to cool.

Next, you need to melt another 100 g of butter and remove the frying pan from the heat.

The oil should be poured into a baking dish.

You need to put a layer of potatoes on it, add spices, onions and cheese.

So you need to repeat the layers. It is important that the top layer is made of potatoes. The remaining butter should be placed on top.

The dish needs to be baked for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees.

Before serving, it is advisable to decorate the casserole with herbs.
