Should you wash Chinese cabbage before eating it: maybe just tear off the top leaves?

Chinese cabbage is included in many dishes, but despite its prevalence, not all housewives know the answer to the question of whether it is necessary to wash the vegetable before using it.

Meanwhile, there can be no disagreement on this issue, because it is absolutely necessary to wash the Pekingese.

The fact is that the leaves of Chinese cabbage are arranged in layers, like those of white cabbage, but the upper ones are not able to protect the inner ones from dirt.

It is worth “thanking” their features for this: the leaves of the “Peking cabbage” are strongly twisted and do not fit tightly to each other, which means that the vegetable easily “becomes covered” in dust during ripening.

But it would be a mistake to immerse the entire head of cabbage into a bowl of water at once, since most of the liquid would then “migrate” into the dish.

Instead, either separate the entire vegetable into leaves and wash each one separately, or wash by pulling the tops apart well and using boiled water.

After the “bath procedures,” you need to turn the cabbage upside down and tap it with your palm to get rid of moisture.
