Not everyone knows how to cook rice properly so that it is crumbly and does not stick together.

There are secrets and tricks to help you cook perfect rice.

Selecting and washing rice

The first step to making fluffy rice is choosing the right type of rice.

Long grain or round grain rice are better for this purpose, as they contain less starch and hold their shape better.

It is also important to pay attention to the expiration date and color of the rice: it should be fresh and snow-white.

Before cooking, rice should be thoroughly rinsed under cold water until the water becomes clear. This will help remove excess starch and dust from the grains.

Cooking rice

The second step is to cook the rice in a suitable vessel and with the right amount of water.

It is best to use a thick-walled saucepan with a heavy lid, which will prevent the water from evaporating and retain heat.

The amount of water should be twice as much as the amount of rice. For example, for a glass of rice you need two glasses of water. The water should be salted to taste and brought to a boil.

Then you need to add rice, stir and reduce heat to minimum. Cover and cook rice for 15-20 minutes without stirring.

Rice Rest

The third step is to let the rice rest after cooking. This is a very important stage, which allows the rice to grow to the desired consistency and become more crumbly.

To do this, remove the pan from the heat and let it sit covered for another 10-15 minutes. Then lightly stir the rice with a fork or spoon to separate the grains.

You can also add a little oil or butter for flavor and aroma.

These three simple steps will help you prepare fluffy, non-sticky rice that can be served as a standalone dish or as a side dish for meat, fish, vegetables or sauces.
