Coffee can be brewed at home using a French press, coffee maker, Turk or a special funnel – a pour over.
ADVICE.NEWS told about universal rules of coffee preparation, which will significantly improve the taste of the drink.
Common Mistakes When Making Coffee at Home
Bad coffee
An opened package of coffee loses its aromatic and flavor properties after 1-2 months.
In addition, some time must also pass after the beans are roasted.
Therefore, it is important to store coffee in a dry place and in airtight packaging so that the beans do not come into contact with air.
Incorrect grinding
Each brewing method requires a different grind of coffee beans.
The faster the brewing method, the finer the coffee grind should be, while a coarser grind is suitable for longer brewing.
So, for an espresso maker, Aeropress and Turkish coffee pot, use a fine grind. If you make coffee in a French press or prefer the cold brew method, take coarsely ground coffee.
Water hardness and temperature
Water quality is very important for delicious coffee.
Tap water is not suitable for making coffee. Instead, choose filtered or distilled water.
To brew coffee, you will have to heat the water to 90-95 degrees. To check the temperature, use a special thermometer or a kettle with a built-in sensor.
Wrong math
Too much coffee will not make the drink stronger, but will only spoil its taste.
If you want a stronger drink, choose light roast coffee beans, while dark roasts contain less caffeine.
Finally, we will share a universal coffee recipe: 2 tablespoons per 180 ml of water.
