Fans of tasty and healthy food adore chickpeas and use them in so many different ways.

However, this product is somewhat insidious, and if you cook it incorrectly, then discomfort in the stomach will not take long to appear. Let's figure out how to cook it correctly and what tasty and healthy things can be made from chickpeas.

Secrets of cooking

So, to prevent Turkish peas from causing any unpleasant consequences after eating (and it may cause bloating, gas, and other “joys”), they need to be kept in cold water for 8-12 hours, or even a whole day.

You should not cook chickpeas for a long time or subject them to any other prolonged heat treatment.

Don't forget to season it with ginger or turmeric, black pepper, coriander, you can add rosemary and curry. All these spices also prevent digestive problems.

Chickpeas with vegetables and basil

To prepare you will need:

  • 1 cup chickpeas;
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil;
  • 1 bell pepper (and ½ chili to taste and desire);
  • 1 onion;
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic;
  • 3 fresh tomatoes;
  • fresh basil leaves, fresh parsley, salt and pepper - to taste.

How to cook

The chickpeas need to be boiled. Peel and chop the pepper, garlic and onion, then pour oil into a saucepan with thick walls and a bottom and fry the vegetables in it for 10 minutes.

Next, chop the tomatoes, chop the basil leaves, parsley and add to the pan along with the other spices. Leave to simmer for 20 minutes.

After that, add the boiled chickpeas and cook for another 10 minutes. Serve hot with fresh herbs and vegetables.
