A traditional Belarusian dish based on grated potatoes is a welcome guest on any table.
But not every housewife can cook it so that the potato pancakes turn out appetizing, ruddy and, of course, delicious.
Often you have to remove grey, unattractive cakes from the frying pan.
To avoid becoming a hostage to such a situation, use these tips.
First of all, it is worth noting that the key to a truly delicious dish lies in the minimum of ingredients. So, for 5-6 medium-sized potatoes you will need 1 egg, a teaspoon of salt and spices.
Secondly, don’t be lazy and grate the potatoes on a fine grater.
The third secret is adding onions, which will also have to be chopped using a grater – this way the potato mass will not turn black.
Once the prep work is done, place the potatoes in a sieve and squeeze to remove excess liquid. Don't pour it out right away - keep busy with the other ingredients for now.
Beat an egg into the mixture, add salt and spices, and then you can work on the potato juice – drain the liquid and add the starch remaining at the bottom to the “dough”.
