Many people consider the fourth side of the grater to be useless: vegetables get stuck on the sharp metal.
Some people jokingly noted that it can only scratch your hands and is of no use in cooking.
Most often, it is used for chopping apples when making puree. But this is far from the only way to use the prickly side of the grater.
It is great for grinding dry products. For example, dried bread can be turned into excellent breading for cutlets or chicken in a matter of minutes.
The prickly thorns will turn cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and ginger into powder. To get zest from citrus fruits, it is also best to use the side with the thorns.
Some cooks use it to shred hard cheese, such as Parmesan. In the process, you do not need to push the cheese through the holes too hard, just apply light pressure.
However, it is important to be especially careful when working with the prickly side. It is as easy to scratch your hands as it is to rub the nut, so care is paramount here.
