On the shelves of modern stores you can find many different varieties of avocados.
Despite this, there are universal rules that will help you make the right choice.
First, take a closer look at the shape of the fruit – it should be pear-shaped and elongated.
The length, which should not exceed 20 cm, and the weight of the avocado are also important. A large and ripe fruit will weigh about 300 g, but it is better to stop at fruits weighing from 100 to 200 g, since medium and small avocados can boast the greatest benefit and rich taste.
The color of the peel can also be used as a guide. As a rule, ripe fruits are darker, but this characteristic does not apply to all varieties.
In most cases, the skin of a ripe fruit is a deep green color, and the flesh is a soft green color, which turns yellow closer to the core.
Finally, when choosing, do a test by pressing the avocado with your finger.
If you don't notice an indentation from pressing, the fruit needs a few more days to ripen.
If the resulting dent does not want to straighten out, it is better to eat the fruit right now, since the next morning such an avocado will most likely rot.
