What to consider when choosing a book for a child: whether he will like reading or not depends on it

If you want to instill a culture of reading in your child, you should approach the issue of choosing literature especially carefully.

When choosing a publication for a preschooler or teenager, consider the following important factors.

1. The book must be appropriate for the age of its reader.

Perhaps the most important thing is that literature should be accessible for understanding. At the same time, it should be slightly higher than the child's current capabilities - this requirement is an incentive for the child's cognitive development.

If we are talking about little ones who cannot read yet or are just getting acquainted with letters, choose educational books that have little text but lots of bright illustrations.

For children of middle and high school age, the best choice would be books with complex plots and deep characters - there are many of these in the fiction section.

2. If you want your child to read with pleasure and not under duress, offer him a book that matches his interests.

To do this, talk to your son or daughter before buying to find out what topics they are interested in, and only then start compiling a selection for reading.

3. Don't underestimate the physical quality of a book.

The paper in the publication should be of high quality, and the illustrations should be bright, especially when the literature is intended for small children. They have yet to learn to handle the book carefully.

4. And although the last recommendation is not related to the choice of books, it is impossible to remain silent: be sure to talk with your child about what you have read.

Only through discussion will you be able to find out how interesting the book was for the child and what lesson he was able to learn from what he read.
