No specialist can give a specific time frame for when a child will walk.
At the same time, there are some patterns on the basis of which one can make assumptions about at what age a child will take his first steps.
Genetics
If mom and dad walked early, their child will probably walk early too, and vice versa – if, for example, mom crawled until she was one and a half years old, there is a high probability that her child will repeat her fate.
Weight and body type
It is logical that the plumper and heavier the baby, the more difficult it is for him to stand on his feet and maintain balance. This cannot be said about his thinner and more muscular peers.
Personality Traits
Some children are prone to risky behavior and are willing to let go of the couch or the wall to take a step into the unknown. When they fall, they get up and try again.
There are other babies whose behavior is more measured. They will only start walking when they are confident that they can do it.
Thus, the age at which a child starts walking may be related to his character – his propensity to take risks or his caution.
Duration of pregnancy
As a rule, those children who were born prematurely begin to walk later than their peers.
