New Year is a family holiday, so all parents probably want their children to be able to share the joy of its celebration with them.

It is reasonable that in such situations the question arises: from what age can a child fully participate in celebrating the New Year together with adults?

Psychologist Yulia Tokarchuk shared her opinion on this matter.

Children under 3-4 years of age

For such children, it is especially important to adhere to an established daily routine.

Put your child to bed as usual - he will celebrate the New Year on the morning of January 1st, when he finds a gift hidden under the tree.

Children over 5-6 years old

Children of this age can wait until midnight with mom and dad. Let them celebrate the New Year with the chimes and unpack presents with the adult family members.

Children aged 7 and up

Children aged 7-8 can no longer go to bed and stay with adults a little longer – until 2 am.

This time can be used to watch a New Year's movie together, dance and have fun.

If you decide to go visiting for the New Year, think in advance about where your children will be able to sleep.
