Why Little Babies Fall Asleep Better With Lullabies: Here's How It Works

Many parents have experienced the effectiveness of lullabies in lulling children to sleep.

And recently, scientists were able to unravel the reason why babies close their eyes faster and more willingly to the sounds of a lullaby.

According to one explanation, such songs have a six-beat meter (we are talking about musical meter).

As a result, the song takes on a special rhythm - swaying or rocking, which corresponds to the movements experienced by the fetus in the womb.

Thus, mothers and fathers who sing lullabies to their baby “immerse” her in the previous experience.

But that's not all: lullabies not only help a child fall asleep, but also cause a physiological reaction in the body - which, in turn, has extensive consequences for health and well-being in the future.

This is supported by studies from 2010, where lullabies were played to premature babies in intensive care, which improved their oxygen levels and breathing rate, and 2013, where instead of just playing recordings, the songs were sung live by their parents, which resulted in improved breathing and a lower heart rate, indicating a reduction in stress.

What is noteworthy is that not only children benefit from lullabies, but also parents – their stress is reduced.
