Every parent should be aware that there are a number of cases when it is necessary to give the child additional water.

1. It is very important to give your baby additional fluids if he is completely bottle-fed.

2. The use of anti-reflux mixtures is worth mentioning separately.

3. Another reason to offer water to your child more often is a tendency to constipation and problems with bowel movements.

4. The next situation when a baby needs water occurs immediately when introducing complementary foods, since up to this point the baby received exclusively breast milk or formula, and now the food has become less liquid, which means that the lack of liquid should be compensated for.

5. Be sure to compensate for the loss of water that occurs in case of illness: vomiting, diarrhea, fever, etc.

6. Finally, if the room where the child is located has a low humidity level (below 35%) and it is hot outside, you should also make sure that the child drinks enough fluids.

Regarding how much water to give your child, it is, of course, better to consult with your pediatrician.

The daily water intake is approximately equal to the volume of one feeding and depends on age – it can be 120-150-180 ml. Water should be given little by little throughout the day.
