It is a mistake to think that yelling will help you resolve the situation with a disgruntled and irritated child.
The first thing you should do is take a deep breath, gather all your willpower into a fist and figure out what is causing the bad behavior.
Too much unspent energy
A static position is unnatural for a child. If the baby has been sitting quietly in the car for a two-hour drive or watching a play without moving, give him the opportunity to run, jump and climb - physical exercise will relieve tension and allow him to throw out everything that has accumulated during this time.
Excitement and unpleasant emotions
Fear, anger, anxiety – these and other emotions in a child, as a rule, break out in the form of a bad mood. Even if the reason why the baby is upset seems insignificant to you, you still need to treat it with all attention and respect.
Tell your child that you understand him and that you would have acted in exactly the same way – angry or scared, and maybe even more so, and then try to redirect the child’s attention to something positive.
Hunger or thirst
Young children are not always aware that they are hungry or thirsty – they feel discomfort but don’t understand why, so ask from time to time and offer a snack or drink.
Fatigue
Fatigue can be caused by both physical and emotional reasons (positive emotions are no exception). Just let your baby rest or switch from one activity to another.
Of course, these are not all the reasons for bad behavior - the child may get sick, copy adults, want to insist on his own, and who knows what else.
But in any situation where you feel your patience is wearing thin, ask yourself a question before you start scolding your child. Ask yourself: “Why? Who will benefit from this?”
