Not all parents are lucky enough to raise children who make it through adolescence without any eccentricities.

Advice, wishes and other parental exhortations do not stay in the head for long during these years, if they are heard at all. It is important to find an approach to the teenager so that he begins to listen and hear.

Experts gave some advice to parents to help them find a common language with their teenager.

Authority and experience

On the one hand, this is a personal example on which it is recommended to raise children.

But when a teenager receives information from the parent’s position of “I know better” or “I decided so,” then this is a clear mistake.

Personal opinion

It can even be in a preschooler and no one should be discriminated against for it. In this case, the phrase "my house - my rules" said by parents will lead to a dead end.

Experts advise using a more democratic expression: “I understand, but I see this situation differently.”

Experiences and weaknesses

The phrase "you'll find out when you grow up" can be called useless. In this case, it's better to postpone the conversation.

It would be even better to say: “the day was very difficult”, but the main thing is not to become a “boring adult” who is simply not interesting to listen to.

By playing to your weaknesses correctly, you will have a chance to gain sympathy from your child.

And finally, don’t forget that a teenager should have personal space, secrets, consult with children and talk even about uncomfortable topics.

Earlier we talked about the dangers of overprotection for children.
