Some products are strictly prohibited from being stored in the refrigerator.
This makes them dangerous, warned Indian nutritionist Janvi Sanghvi.
The expert's statement is cited by the British publication Daily Mail .
What foods should not be stored in the refrigerator
First, onions. As the nutritionist explained, onions contain a lot of liquid, which creates a favorable environment for mold growth.
Mold, in turn, produces toxic chemicals called mycotoxins.
Their consumption can cause stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea and potentially fatal poisoning.
For the same reason, it is not recommended to store garlic in the refrigerator.
In addition, when stored in the refrigerator, garlic quickly sprouts and becomes bitter.
Secondly, it is strictly forbidden to store potatoes in the refrigerator.
When cooled, the starch in the potato turns into sugar, making the potato sweeter and grainier.
When such potatoes are cooked at high temperatures, the carcinogen acrylamide is formed.
Also, you can't store bananas in the refrigerator. At low temperatures, they quickly turn black and become soft.
