Be careful with these supplements. Why vitamin D is dangerous

Winter is not only snow-white fields, fresh frosty air and festive New Year impressions.

This season is also famous for the fact that it gives people very little sunlight.

Well, in modern climate conditions, snow has been replaced by rain, and sub-zero temperatures have been replaced by pluses on the thermometers.

Damp, grey, dull, humid, chilly, cold, depressing – that’s what winter is today.

Therefore, many people begin to actively take vitamin D (usually in the form of supplements), which allows the body to adapt to such conditions and, in particular, to compensate for the lack of light.

But, as research by experts has shown, many of these drugs available on the market contain excessive dosages, which is dangerous to health.

Experts say the safe daily intake of vitamin D is 20 micrograms (800 units).

We went to the market and this is what we saw: out of 23 supplements sold, only 4 met the above-mentioned standard.

And some drugs contained up to 100 micrograms, that is, the maximum permissible value was exceeded by 5 times.

Doctors remind: an excess of vitamin D can provoke nausea, abdominal pain and kidney disease.

Please note: this vitamin is important not only for bone health, but also for the normal functioning of the immune system and metabolism.

However, healthy people who spend enough time in the sun in the summer do not need additional medication.

The risk of vitamin D deficiency is higher among older citizens and those who are not often outdoors.

In order not to harm your health, doctors advise taking vitamin D as prescribed without exceeding the permissible dosages.
