Researchers from South Korea have concluded that sleep patterns are influenced by the culture and geography of the country in which a person is located.
For the work, data from smart watches was analyzed. In total, more than 52 million records were analyzed, which were made over 4 years.
As a result, it turned out that people usually fall asleep around midnight. Waking up usually happens around 7 am. As specialists were able to establish, the average time is 07:42.
At the same time, experts noted that sleep time depends on the country. The least amount of sleep is in countries with high GDP.
Doctors also managed to find out the country where people sleep the least.
As it turned out, the shortest duration of sleep is in Japan - less than 7 hours. They sleep longer in Finland - about 8 hours.
The scientists added in their work that in countries where the individualism index is higher, the duration of rest is longer. It is common there to get ready for bed earlier.
