Harvard scientists conducted a study and came to the conclusion that men and women over 40 years old need to add apples and some berries to their diet.

The observations lasted 12 years.

The project involved 1,700 men and women.

As a result, experts came to the conclusion that apples prevent the development of age-related frailty syndrome. This disease leads to falls and fractures, disability, and in some cases even death.

The benefit of this affordable fruit is that it delays the onset of heart and vascular diseases. It's all about the flavonol they contain, called quercetin.

One medium-sized apple contains approximately 10 mg of flavonols.

You can also find quercetin in some berries, such as blackberries and blueberries.

The corresponding publication was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
