Psychologist names ways to avoid emotional burnout due to work

The expert listed the rules that will help avoid emotional burnout due to work.

Business psychologist Evgeniya Shepeleva noted that professional burnout occurs against the background of high workload and constant stress.

The specialist emphasized that the fast pace of life, ambitious goals of a person, as well as high demands of management on employees often lead to the depletion of psycho-emotional resources.

In addition to all this, factors such as dissatisfaction with salary, multitasking and difficult relationships with management may be superimposed, Lenta reports. Due to all of these conditions or part of it, a person may experience emotional burnout.

The psychologist noted that this condition affects areas of a person's life, and does not remain with him only at work. Emotional burnout is accompanied by a reluctance to go to work. At the same time, everyday and primary matters fade into the background.

How to Avoid Emotional Burnout

Shepeleva advised to first of all give up the multitasking mode. Even in cases when some economic benefit is at stake. The psychologist recommends taking on new tasks as you complete old ones. Otherwise, psycho-emotional resources will melt like ice during a thaw.

Overworking, lack of breaks and constant concentration on tasks deprive the brain of relaxation. The psychologist noted that it is necessary to follow the principle: "He who works well, who rests well."

Shepeleva pointed out that responsibility is a good quality that employers always welcome. But excessive responsibility is associated with constant stress and fear of letting down, not living up to expectations. The expert emphasized that this quality is very exhausting, sometimes to such a state that a person loses interest in work.

Therefore, the psychologist advised doing the work conscientiously, but not trying to be responsible for all aspects that cannot be influenced.

Shepeleva added that emotional burnout can be combated by having a hobby or interest that adds some variety to the workday.
