A World War II veteran shared his simple secrets to longevity.
Florida's Bill Monfort celebrated his 106th birthday in December 2022.
Doctors who monitor the long-liver's health believe that it's all about genetics. The man was not only lucky to live to such a respectable age, but also managed to maintain a clear mind.
But Monfort believes that his secret is not actually genetics. The veteran noted that his longevity is based on a healthy diet, a good sense of humor and constant communication with people.
The man emphasized that he values those around him and tries to maintain good relationships with everyone, Fox 13 News reports.
Monfort was born in 1916 and lived through 19 US presidents. The long-liver boasted that he personally knew the 39th head of the country, Jimmy Carter. However, Bill noted that he communicated with the future president when he was 11 years old.
During World War II, Monfort served in the Navy as a radio operator. He survived a Japanese kamikaze attack and was the first on the ship to learn of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
After the war, Monfort returned to the United States and started a family. Bill had a daughter with developmental disabilities, which inspired the American and his wife to create a non-profit organization specializing in caring for children with disabilities. Over the years, the project has helped hundreds of families.
