Scientists from the United States have stated that skipping breakfast leads to problems with immunity.
The experts conducted an experiment with mice, which were divided into two groups.
One of them had to eat after waking up, and the other did without breakfast. The researchers took blood samples immediately after the rodents woke up, and then after 4 and 8 hours.
Eventually, they were able to notice a difference in the tests.
It turned out that mice that were not given food in the morning had a reduced level of monocytes. After a few hours, it was below average, and 8 hours after waking up, there were no monocytes left.
It is worth noting that monocytes are white blood cells that play an important role in protecting the body, fighting tumors, and helping to cope with inflammation.
An organism that has been starving for a long time begins to stress, sends monocytes to the bone marrow, and the production of new blood cells does not occur. The next time the second group of rodents was given breakfast, their condition only worsened, immunity decreased, the risk of heart disease increased.
It is believed that this discovery by scientists should help to better understand the side effects of such a diet.
