Usually sponges are located near the kitchen sink. And this is quite logical: you can’t do without this product when washing dishes.

However, in the kitchen of some housewives, sponges can be found not only next to the sink, but also in... the refrigerator.

It turns out that in some cases, storing soft goods in low temperatures actually makes sense.

But this should not be done for the kitchen sponges themselves, but to achieve other goals.

The presence of the product in this place makes sense. For example, in a situation where the refrigeration device needs to be freed from unnecessary odors.

Of course, you can just put a saucer of baking soda on the shelf. But the product can easily spill.

It is easier to use a sponge. Before putting the product in the refrigerator, it must be soaked in a solution prepared on the basis of the above-mentioned bulk agent.

Nothing will spill, the shelves will stay clean, and the stench will disappear much sooner.

Sponge in the freezer

The product can also be found in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator.

Some housewives put sponges there to freeze the water.

Of course, you can install a water-filled ice tray. But sometimes the need arises not to obtain ice cubes, but to obtain a "reusable" cold device.

The frozen sponge in the bag retains moisture for quite a long time. Therefore, you can safely take it on a trip. It is possible that it will come in handy during outdoor recreation: for example, for applying to the site of a bruise.

Ice cubes will melt very quickly. And the sponge is capable of not only holding cold liquid for a long time, but also re-freezing. Important: do not forget to put the sponge in a bag before putting it in the freezer!
