It has long been proven that animal feed is better and healthier for their health than the leftovers from the owners' table.
The only thing left for the owner is to choose the food: dry, canned meat, or maybe both? Let's try to figure out what is better.
First of all, these compositions differ in water content. Even dry granules are almost 10% water, and the rest is carbohydrates, fats and other food additives.
Canned food contains almost 70% water.
There are three options: canned food, dry food, or both.
1. If we talk about canned food, then due to its water content it is ideal for pets with a number of diseases that require monitoring water consumption (sick kidneys, diabetes, urinary tract disorders).
But it also has its drawbacks. The shelf life after opening the canned food is limited to 24 hours in the refrigerator. And that's all.
2. Dry food is cheaper and has no significant limitations on shelf life. It is also balanced and contains all the vitamins and nutrients necessary for the animal.
But it will have more disadvantages. It leads to obesity, requires constant access to clean water for the pet, and dry food is not recommended for sterilized cats.
3. As for the third option (mixed), you should approach this issue carefully and it would be better to consult a veterinarian.
A specialist will prescribe a suitable diet for your pet based on lifestyle, age and health.
