Women may be lonely not because they are not in demand among the male sex.

Psychologist Daria Noykina explained why women are afraid to build relationships with men.

Often the reason for this is fear of the male sex for one reason or another. This does not mean that a woman locks herself in four walls and does not go out, no.

She may well have a relationship, but it will either be short-lived or abusive.

But why does this happen? Why are women afraid of relationships? Let's look at several possible reasons.

Firstly, one of the main reasons is the fear of being deceived. The historically established stereotype about the “inconstancy” of men and their tendency to cheat can be one of the reasons that causes anxiety in women and prevents them from building trusting relationships.

Certain negative experiences or stories from the environment can also influence the formation of such fears.

The next possible reason may be fear of aggression. Often in the news you can hear about cases of violence from men or, again, negative experiences, your own or those of your friends, can also generate this fear.

In this case, the woman will constantly be vigilant in the relationship: looking closely, listening, and this will certainly not contribute to the establishment of close relationships.

A third reason may be a “cultural barrier.” Different societies have certain expectations about the roles of women and men in relationships.

These expectations, in turn, can limit women's freedom to build relationships or cause fear of breaking them.

Another possible reason could be low self-esteem. It leads to women not seeing themselves as worthy of a healthy and happy relationship.

A woman either does not take the initiative herself, or nip in the bud the attention of men, which in turn leads either to loneliness or to the appearance of unworthy men in her life. I would like to note that the latter has an even more negative effect on the fear of relationships, because it adds fuel to the fire, as if confirming that "men should be feared."

And finally, a woman may be afraid of losing her freedom: getting bogged down in everyday life, not being fulfilled, losing her youth and beauty, sacrificing herself, etc.

Fortunately, none of this is fatal. Fear of relationships can be effectively corrected with the help of cognitive behavioral therapy.

At the root of any cause of fear of relationships are irrational attitudes that prevent you from building normal relationships. By sorting them out and replacing them with correct ones, you can not only get rid of fear, but also improve your life in general.
