Why seedlings grow poorly: reasons and ways to fix it

1. Soil quality

It happens that the store soil is very acidic due to peat. As a result, an imbalance occurs, which affects the growth of shoots and the development of roots. You can deacidify the soil with a solution of calcium nitrate.

2. Planting seeds

First of all, you can make a mistake when planting small seeds, like petunias and strawberries. If we talk about nightshades, they are planted at a depth of up to a centimeter.

3. Temperature

It is necessary to take into account that cold air comes from the window, and hot and dry air from the radiator comes from below. Tomato seedlings can feel fine on the windowsill, but peppers and eggplants may not survive.

4. Light

It may be superfluous and it may be lacking. Direct sunlight can burn young plants, and excess shade will prevent them from developing. For additional illumination, phytolamps are installed above the seedlings at a height of 12-15 centimeters.

5. Watering

It is necessary to provide drainage holes in the pots. This will prevent excess moisture from forming and reduce the risk of diseases, rot and pests to zero. In this case, all that remains is to follow the watering schedule.
