How to Grow Kohlrabi and Other Cabbage Right in Your Garden: A Simplified Method

Instead of taking up space on the windowsill with kohlrabi seedlings, you can try planting them directly in the ground, as well as other cabbages.

This should be done as soon as the garden dries out: at the end of April – beginning of May.

Important: the minimum night air temperature in the greenhouse or outside should be +5 degrees.

To begin, make small holes in the ground and fill them with a soil mixture with compost and humus.

In each hole, plant several swollen kohlrabi seeds at once after treating them with potassium permanganate. The depth should be about 2-3 cm.

Watering should be very moderate. It is better if you replace it with spraying.

Now all that remains is to cover the future shoots with plastic bottles, the bottoms of which must be cut off in advance.

As a rule, shoots appear in a week. When you notice that the shoots have gained 3-4 leaves, you should get rid of the weak specimens (you can transplant them to another place), leaving only one shoot in each hole.

Fertilize soybeans only once, using a solution of 10 liters of water, 1 tablespoon of urea and 2 tablespoons of potassium sulfate.

The seedlings should remain under the bottles until at least 6 leaves appear on the seedlings, which happens around mid-May.
