Why peppers grew tasteless and thin-walled: gardeners' non-obvious mistakes

In the hope of growing juicy and fleshy bell peppers, summer residents often face bitter disappointment when, instead of weighty fruits, they collect worthless pods with thin walls.

Such fruits, as a rule, do not spoil with aroma or taste, and in addition, they are dry.

Let's try to figure out what could have gone wrong and at what stage the unfortunate mistake was made. There are few reasons for this, you can remember them.

Harvesting

Perhaps unripe fruits were collected. This happens when the pepper looks ripe, but there is nothing similar inside. It is possible that fertilizers were not applied in time and the plant did not have time to absorb them, you will have to wait in this case.

Water

Summer residents are accustomed to the fact that cucumbers and other related plants need special watering. But due to the lack of moisture, there is every chance of growing just such peppers. At the same time, peppers need drained soil and a mulched bed to avoid excessive evaporation of moisture. And irregular watering affects not only the thickness of the walls, but also the taste of the fruit.

Fertilizer and soil

It is possible that the pepper is not growing in the right soil in terms of acidity. The ideal pH for it is considered to be 6.2-7.0. Problems can be caused by a lack of nutrients, an overdose of potassium, a lack (excess) of zinc, which leads to difficulties with the absorption of iron and magnesium.

And finally, it is quite possible that the thin walls of the pepper with a normal taste are simply a varietal feature of the crop. Or maybe the seeds were taken from hybrids that are not capable of reproducing the previous qualities in the future.
