Geranium, also known as pelargonium, is an unpretentious plant and blooms even with mediocre care and even in winter.
But when the geranium does not bloom, it is very offensive, because this is a clear hint of unprofessionalism and mistakes made at some stage.
Here's what needs to be changed to get the plant to bloom.
In the northern part of the house, somewhere on a shelf, geranium will not bloom soon even in summer. Place the pot in the sun or on the windowsills of the southern side of the house. It is better if the light is diffused.
You can buy soil, but if you plant in garden soil, this may not be enough. Mix peat, humus or compost with garden soil in equal parts. The mixture should be loose.
It is advisable to replant pelargoniums once a year, in spring and without options. It will not be possible to restore the soil depleted over the year with only additional feeding.
At the end of February or the beginning of March, geranium can be cut, leaving shoots up to 5-10 cm. If lower, the plant may not produce new shoots. Only successful pruning will make geranium grow as a lush bush. And if the flower stubbornly grows upward, the shoot can be pinched.
Only after all these procedures are carried out, the pelargonium is fed. Additives for decorative foliage crops are used. In this way, the flower will increase its green mass, and then you can expect flowering.
