The sirtfood diet, popular among celebrities and even royalty, was created by nutritionists Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten.
They conducted research on resveratrol (a biologically active substance), which allowed them to formulate the main principles of their diet.
This substance is found in grape skins and red wine and gives the drink antioxidant, hypocholesterolemic and cardioprotective properties (this statement should not be taken as a recommendation to drink alcohol).
Resveratrol belongs to the group of sirtuins – cellular enzymes responsible for stress resistance and regulating aging.
Eating capers, walnuts, dark chocolate, red onions, etc. stimulates the production of sirtuins, which promotes self-repair of cells. Goggins and Matten called these products sirtfoods.
The main products of the sirtfood diet, according to its authors, are: capers, buckwheat, chili peppers, celery, dark chocolate (with a cocoa content of at least 85%), olive oil, coffee, kale, dates, garlic, arugula, chicory, parsley, red wine, red onion, dark berries, soybeans, walnuts and turmeric.
This nutrition plan should be considered not so much as a weight loss method, but rather as an anti-aging express program, thanks to which a person gets a chance to “bring” the body to its peak form.
