Breakfast is an important part of our diet. It gives energy and prepares the body for an active day.

The choice of foods for breakfast is of great importance to our health and well-being.

Doctor of the HappyDerm medical center Lyudmila Artyushkevich named the best and five worst products that should be consumed or, conversely, better excluded from your breakfast.

Porridges (buckwheat, oatmeal, pearl barley, millet)

Porridges are the healthiest choice for breakfast. They can be cooked in water or milk. Porridges contain a large amount of healthy (slow) carbohydrates, which quickly saturate the stomach and help maintain a feeling of satiety for a long time.

Eggs and dishes made from them

Eggs are a great source of vitamins and minerals. They can be prepared in different ways: boiled, scrambled or omelette. Eggs are also rich in protein, which is an important nutritional element.

Muesli

Store-bought muesli often contains a lot of sugar. To avoid this, it is better to make it yourself. Bake long-cooking oatmeal in the oven and add candied fruit, nuts and a little honey. Muesli can be seasoned with milk, kefir or low-fat yogurt.

Whole wheat bread

Whole grain bread is a healthy alternative to regular white bread. You can make sandwiches or sandwiches on whole grain bread, adding cheese, red lightly salted fish or ham. Avoid adding sauces and mayonnaise to keep the dish healthier.

Dairy products (cottage cheese, cheese)

Dairy products such as cottage cheese and cheese are loaded with nutrients, vitamin D, potassium and calcium. They are a great choice for a filling and nutritious breakfast.

Five foods that are not recommended for breakfast

Fatty meat

Digesting fatty meat requires a lot of energy. Overloading your body in the morning is definitely not worth it.

Quick breakfast cereals (flakes, pillows, chocolate balls)

These breakfasts contain a lot of fast carbohydrates, which are quickly absorbed and can only fill you up for a short time. You may soon want to eat again.

Yeast baking

Eating yeast baked goods for breakfast is not recommended as it can cause bloating and stomach discomfort.

Raw vegetables

Raw vegetables contain acid, which can corrode the stomach lining. It is better to avoid eating them on an empty stomach.

Citrus

Citrus fruits such as oranges also contain acid, which can have a negative effect on the stomach. It is recommended to eat citrus fruits as a snack or at lunch.

Coffee or tea

Coffee is not the best drink for breakfast. In the morning, the body has the highest amount of cortisol, the stress hormone that helps us wake up. Caffeine further stimulates the production of cortisol and can create addiction. If you find it difficult to give up coffee in the morning, it is recommended to drink it with milk.

However, it is best to give preference to warm water, green or black tea, which will help you refresh and invigorate.

A healthy breakfast is not only food, but also taking care of yourself and your health.
