If you forgot to buy a loaf of fresh bread at the store and only have a stale crust left at home, consider yourself lucky.
There are several ways to make hard bread soft again.
The simplest of them involves using a microwave.
It is enough to wrap a piece of bread in a damp paper towel and hold it in the microwave for 10 seconds - after such manipulations the slice will become fresh again.
The oven life hack works on the same principle, only this time the bread is wrapped in foil and placed in an oven preheated to 180 degrees.
For sliced bread, 5 minutes is enough, for a whole loaf – about 20.
The main thing is not to rush to remove the foil immediately after the time is up. Let the bread cool down in the wrapped form so that it can absorb moisture.
Some housewives use celery to soften bread.
They add 2-3 celery sticks to a bag of baked goods and leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
Finally, if you have stale slices of bread, try to “revive” them using a water bath.
Place the bread pieces in a colander and place it over a pan of simmering water.
Make sure there is at least 10cm of space between the boiling water and the colander to ensure the bread is refreshed and not soggy.
