It turns out that the vast majority of amateur cooks cook boiled potatoes incorrectly.

They put the raw tubers in the pot too early.

Usually it happens like this: vegetables are placed in a container and filled with cold water. After that, the pan is placed on the stove and the burner is turned on.

It would seem that this is how it should be done. However, the expert of the online publication Belnovosti in the field of cooking, cook, fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova assures gourmets: raw potatoes should be sent into already boiling water.

In other words, you need to start cooking potatoes in the same way as pasta.

How to cook potatoes correctly

First, pour water into the pan. Don't add the potatoes yet.

Place the cookware on the burner and turn on the heat.

Once the liquid comes to a boil, throw in the raw potatoes.

If the vegetable is immediately placed in boiling water, a natural barrier will form on its surface. All the important components will remain in the tubers: you will get a very healthy dish.

This will prevent starch from washing out: the side dish will be crumbly and very appetizing.

When you shouldn't put potatoes in boiling water

However, there are cases when the vegetable needs to be covered with cold liquid.
