According to the classic recipe, to prepare this “component” of the first course, you will need vegetables such as onions, carrots, and beets.

These are not all the ingredients – you also need to add tomato paste, vinegar, sugar and salt.

Well, of course, you can't do without oil. By the way, sometimes instead of the usual vegetable oil, housewives use butter or ghee - try it, maybe you'll like this option better.

The first thing to go into the heated oil in a frying pan should be the chopped onion.

Wait until it turns a nice golden color, then add the carrots. By the way, if you decide to deviate from the classic recipe and add bell peppers to the borscht, it is worth doing it at this stage.

After this, you can add the beets to the other ingredients, which should become soft and color all the other components of the borscht.

The only thing left to do is to “enrich” the contents of the frying pan with tomato paste (can be replaced with chopped tomatoes) and spices. Don’t forget to pour in a small amount of water so that the frying doesn’t burn.
