None of us are immune to mistakes, and sometimes even experienced housewives, returning from the store, notice that they brought home a package of the wrong puff pastry.
But I don’t want to put my plans off, and that’s when the question arises: is it possible to replace yeast dough with yeast-free dough in such a situation?
We can confidently say: yes, you can. However, there is one thing: the taste and texture of the finished dish will most likely differ from the usual.
Yeast dough, compared to its yeast-free counterpart, is fluffier and softer, while yeast-free baked goods are crispier.
That is why you should not experiment if you are making croissants, for which yeast dough is usually used. If you substitute, these products may lose their inherent airiness and splendor.
If you plan to make puff pastry pies, make sure you have some yeast-free dough on hand, which will give them a crispy texture.
Pies filled with berries or fruits are preferably prepared from yeast-free dough, since it interacts less with the acid released from the filling.
Finally, the puff pastry strip snack will be much more appetizing if made from yeast dough, since it will not fall apart into layers when ready.
