With the onset of cold weather, many people get out their homemade preserves. One of the most popular is lard.
Salty, tender and tasty, which can be served with pickled vegetables, black bread and herbs, always becomes an excellent decoration for the table.
But to enjoy the taste, you first need to salt the lard correctly. The process is simple, and anyone can handle it.
For 600 g of lard, you need to prepare a head of garlic, 3 tablespoons of coarsely ground black pepper, about 300 g of salt and 4 bay leaves.
The main ingredient must be cut into equal pieces. It is desirable that they are no thicker than 5 cm, otherwise the salting time will be longer.
Then you need to mix half of the salt and pepper in a container and put the pieces of lard on top. After that you can pour in the remaining amount of spices.
You also need to add chopped bay leaf and chopped garlic cloves.
Then you should close the container tightly and leave it in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. After that, you can try the snack.
If you want to preserve the lard for a long time, then simply transfer it to the freezer.
