What to do if your child is constantly “sticking” to you and demanding attention: conduct a rehearsal

Many parents complain that their child lacks the skill of “independent play”.

This means that their child follows mom and dad closely, constantly demanding that they pay attention to him.

If you are faced with a similar problem, most likely your son or daughter is simply accustomed to the fact that there is always an adult nearby who, at his first request, will occupy him with an interesting game or fun activity.

A child who is unable to occupy himself even for a few minutes must be taught to be alone.

Of course, you shouldn't just leave him alone - instead, conduct a so-called "rehearsal".

When you are in the room with your child, show him that you are busy, for example, ironing or taking care of flowers.

When your little one asks for your attention, tell him that he should wait until you finish your task.

Be persistent and "stay busy" for 5-10 minutes.

It is quite possible that the child will find an interesting activity for himself. Rehearse this every day several times, gradually increasing the time.

Earlier we talked about how towean a child off a pacifier.
