Child's Whims: How to Avoid Them

Children's whims are increasingly common in children from a very early age. Sometimes whims occur in calm children or children begin to be capricious for any reason.

The older the child gets, the more difficult it is for parents to cope with the child: they didn’t buy him chocolate, a car, or they simply didn’t let him ride on the swing.

If you do not understand the reasons for the whims, the child will constantly achieve the desired result by screaming and crying.

A child’s whims are directly related to his psychophysical and emotional background, as well as age-related characteristics.

Preschool children are most susceptible to whims. Children under two years of age may have whims, but this happens due to overtiredness and an incorrect regime. It is easy to solve the problem here – establish a sleep and wakefulness regime.

From 2 to 5 years, the child's capricious state manifests itself more often. The child tries to express his dissatisfaction and desire to force parents to fulfill their demands.

It is important not to exert pressure on the child with the authority of parents. Such behavior will contribute to the development of a negative attitude on the part of the child.

The most correct solution would be to enter into a dialogue with the child - talk calmly and sort everything out. After 5 years, children's whims are already a habit of achieving everything with hysterics, crying and screaming, which parents were unable to overcome in infancy.

Many parents, due to inexperience and age, do not know how to properly deal with whims, begin to show negative emotions and take it out on their children. This is wrong.

It is important to react calmly to the situation, to be patient. When the whims begin, it is necessary to calm the child down, hug him, tell him how much you love him. You cannot shout, because the child will start crying even more.

You need to talk to your child and explain as often as possible how to behave correctly in a store, in the company of people. You should not pay attention to strangers who make comments or try to find out the reason for the child's whims.

It is worth establishing clear boundaries for the word “no” and following the promised prohibitions even when you feel very sorry for the child and want him to stop screaming as soon as possible.

You can switch the child's attention to something or try to come to an agreement with the child, for example, deprive him of watching cartoons.

Try to avoid and prevent children's whims - this will help you to preserve not only your nerves, but also the psychophysical health of the child!
