These are the conclusions reached by researchers from the University of Queensland, who observed 479 women and studied their level of physical activity between the ages of 20 and 40.

The results of the work were published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health.

It turned out that 40-year-old women who were active in sports in their youth had an average resting heart rate of 72 beats per minute.

For those who did not exercise, this figure was 78 beats per minute.

Conclusions of scientists

At first glance, the difference is insignificant.

But it has previously been shown that increases of just 1 beat per minute can be linked to the risk of premature death.

A low heart rate indicates that the heart is working efficiently. Therefore, sports training can ensure a healthy future for women.
