We are talking about food that contains carbohydrates (especially simple ones), endocrinologist Natalia Tananakina told Gazeta.Ru .

According to the doctor, these are primarily sweets, white bread, pasta, white rice and potatoes.

In small quantities they won't do any harm, but if you overdo it, the sugar in the body will increase and then drop sharply. That's where the drowsiness comes from.

In addition, foods that are rich in tiptophan also play a role in regulating sleep and lead to the desire to lie down. Usually, these are milk, cottage cheese, nuts and seeds, turkey.

The doctor reminded that magnesium is an important mineral. It also takes part in the regulation of sleep and rest. Its low level can lead to insomnia and fatigue.

Therefore, if you want to improve the quality of your sleep, you should eat avocados, nuts, spinach, dark chocolate and bananas.

According to the endocrinologist, alcohol can cause drowsiness.
