Experts from Switzerland stated that if a person has an unpleasant smell from the mouth, and he does not try to find out the reasons and does not treat this symptom, then there is a high risk that heart problems will begin.

The corresponding publication appeared in the journal Genetics and Genomics .

Recently, experts completed another study on this topic.

It involved 3.5 thousand people. 6 percent of them had serious problems with the cardiovascular system. They were observed for about 12 years.

The results showed that antibodies against Fusobacterium nucleatum, a sign of a past or current bacterial infection, were associated with an increased risk of heart problems.

It is worth noting that with such an infection, the gums become inflamed and an unpleasant odor appears from the mouth.

This effect is explained by the fact that systemic inflammation increases as a result of bacterial infection.

As a result, the problem may appear not only in the oral cavity, but also on the walls of blood vessels.
