Walnuts are a must-have ingredient in several New Year's salads and desserts.
That is why during the winter holidays many people will have to deal with removing the shell from the product.
The procedure is quite long and complicated. But only if you don’t know about one little trick.
It turns out that the process of cracking walnuts can be significantly simplified and accelerated.
To do this, you need to use… water brought to a boil.
Why throw walnuts into boiling water
Keeping the product in very hot water for ten minutes helps soften the shell.
The latter will split easily. Extraction of walnut kernels will become a simple and very quick procedure.
How to Properly "Process" Walnuts in Boiling Water
Take a large saucepan, fill part of it with plain water and place the pan on the burner.
Once the liquid starts to boil, pour the walnuts that need to be peeled into the pan.
After the water boils again, time it for exactly 10 minutes.
Once this time has elapsed, turn off the burner and remove the walnuts with a slotted spoon.
Immediately after the product has cooled, begin peeling it. The soft shell will be crushed and removed with incredible ease: most likely, you will be able to do it without special tools.
