Any customer in a store has at least once been asked what color chicken eggs he needs to count.
Believing that eggs with colored shells are somehow different from white ones, everyone tries to take colored ones.
Roskachestvo experts told us what you really need to pay attention to when choosing eggs, and what you shouldn’t.
We don't pay attention
1. Colored eggs have the same composition as white eggs. The only difference is that they were laid by different laying hens - "brunettes" or "blondes".
2. Smooth or rough shell - this is another tale. Do not believe that eggs with rough shells are of low quality. This is confirmed by laboratory tests.
3. "Bio" and "Eco" are just a manufacturer's trick. There is no certification for this feature and the labels do not guarantee anything.
Please note
1. The production date and shelf life must be indicated on the packaging.
2. Information about the manufacturer must be indicated. It is clear that the longer the product travels from the manufacturer to the counter, the worse it is for the product.
3. The shell should not have cracks, chips, feathers, or traces of droppings – it must be clean.
4. Eggs should be stored in clean and dry trays, without any foreign smells, mold or stains. The danger is that eggs absorb everything like a sponge.
The rest of the signs are not important when choosing and purchasing a chicken product.
For reference
Eggs are a common food product. The most popular ones to eat are chicken eggs, although any bird eggs can be eaten by humans.
