People suffering from household allergies should first of all eliminate the cause of the ailment, such as dust mites.
We suggest you figure out where they most often live and what you need to do to forget about this problem as a bad dream.
Favorite places of dust mites
Parasites can hide in the following places:
- Sleeping places: mattresses, headboards, pillows, blankets, bed linen.
- Upholstered furniture: sofas, armchairs, sofa cushions, poufs, benches.
- Floor coverings: carpets, rugs, mats made of natural materials.
- Hard to reach places: dusty corners, old clothes, soft toys and multi-layered curtains.
How to Fight Dust Mites
If you want to get rid of dust mites that have settled in your home, you should resort to a whole range of measures.
Take proper care of your bedding
Bed linen should be washed once a week, using a setting in which the water temperature is not lower than 60 degrees.
Blankets and pillows also need to be washed, although less often – about 2 times a year, but better once every 3-4 months.
Pay attention to your mattress
Turn your mattress (top-bottom and head-feet) at least three times a year. Ideally, you should do this every 3 months.
When cleaning, do not forget to vacuum the mattresses using a special attachment, and in the summer, take it out into the sun - mites die due to ultraviolet radiation.
Maintain an optimal microclimate
Ventilate your apartment regularly: open the windows 2-3 times a day for 15 minutes.
If you use a humidifier in your bedroom, do not place it next to your bed to prevent moisture from settling on your pillows and blankets. Also, remember to clean the device regularly.
