Unfortunately, we often buy fake milk in the store. At home, for example, alcohol will help us understand what kind of milk it is.

Well, how can this be done in a retail facility? Without any improvised means?

There are such methods. But first it is worth saying that fake milk is most often a drink diluted with water.

This is what unscrupulous manufacturers do in pursuit of greater profits.

Danger

They can add not only water, but also other substances that pose a real danger to health.

They often save on milk production by making it from dry milk powder.

That is, they simply dilute the powder with water to the required consistency and package it.

Sometimes this drink is called restorative milk, since its nutritional properties are almost equal to whole milk.

And when palm oil is added to achieve the required fat content, the product becomes dangerous.

During processing, this oil is heated to a certain temperature, which results in the formation of toxic esters in it.

How to recognize a fake

First of all, look at the label: a quality product only contains milk.

When purchasing a drink, it is recommended to give preference to normalized milk or a mixture of whole and skim milk.

The most extreme case is reconstituted milk.

There is such a point. Today, many stores mark quality natural products with the label BZMZh – “without milk fat substitutes”.

Manufacturers supplying drinks with vegetable oils and other additives must indicate on their product that it is a “dairy product with milk fat substitute.”

They must also include information about the full composition of such milk: water, whey, cream, anhydrous fat, refined and deodorized vegetable oils.

Checking houses

At home, you can determine the quality of milk using alcohol.

Why is this important? Because not all manufacturers list the ingredients of their products on their labels.

By keeping silent about the presence of vegetable fats, you are simply being deceived.

At home you can do the following: boil the milk.

If foam appears at a temperature of 40-45 degrees, it means that the product probably contains harmful additives.

You can also add a drop of iodine: if the milk turns blue, it means there is starch in it.

Alcohol will help you understand whether milk is whole or not. Mix 20 ml of alcohol with 10 ml of the drink and shake.

If the milk is whole, flakes will appear in it almost immediately.
