08.01.2025 18:51

The refrigerator does not tolerate disorder. Otherwise, the food in it will not be stored, but will spoil.

There is a whole system that allows you to use shelf space wisely.

Aleksey Panov, PhD in Chemistry and Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy at RTU MIREA, told Life.ru how to properly use the space on the refrigerator shelves and preserve food for a long time.

Top shelf

It is better to store products here that do not require long processing before consumption.

Air temperature from 2 to 4 degrees Celsius is suitable for storing milk and dairy products, as well as open canned goods.

Middle shelf

The temperature here is constantly maintained within 0-2 degrees, which is suitable for ready meals, eggs, sausages and cold cuts.

However, prepared meals should not be stored together with raw foods.

Bottom shelf

The air temperature here can range from -2 to 0 degrees, which allows storing “raw fish, meat, chicken and minced meat.”

Drawers

It is better to store vegetables and fruits here, and in different boxes.

Refrigerator door

Here the air temperature rarely drops below 5-7 degrees Celsius.

Therefore, products with a long shelf life can be placed here. These are mainly sauces, oils and drinks.
